The gross hourly wage for student assistants is rising from 25 to 26 francs, representing a 4% increase.
This wage had remained frozen at 25 francs since at least 2021. The story behind the current increase began in early 2026, when AGEPoly noted that the rate was higher at both ETHZ and UNIL. The Vice Presidency for Human development (VPH) was contacted and agreed to propose a one-franc increase to EPFL’s executive board. The board later confirmed the proposition. In the future, the wage may be adjusted in line with inflation.
