On November 5, the student representatives gathered for their first Representation Assembly of the year. The meeting began with an introduction to how the assembly works and the welcoming of the representatives. The following topics were discussed:

The assembly discussed creating a charter to define the roles and responsibilities of the representatives. The Representation Assembly approved the creation of a working group, which will report back at the next Representation Assembly. The working group is composed of Samuel Belisle, Veronika Permamedova, Raphaël Faltin, Nathalie Bui, and Ren Yi.

The next topic on the agenda was the registration for SHS courses. As SHS registration is a stressful, semesterly event for students, Salim Najib proposed creating a working group to suggest a system that would reduce the stress associated with the registration process. The Representation Assembly approved the creation of a working group, which will report back at the next meeting. The working group is composed of Salim Najib, Benjamin Faltin, Ezra Baup, Ahlem Ben Salha, Maëlle Bothner, and Jean Marc Fata.

The assembly also discussed the differences in internship offers, particularly the frequency at which internships are posted on IS Academia. Ezra Baup pointed out that at the SB faculty, there are sometimes delays of 10 days to two weeks during which no new internship offers are available. This contrasts with the IC faculty, where new offers are posted regularly. When the same offers appear several days in advance in one section compared to another, it can create significant disparities in the attractiveness of applications. The Representation Assembly decided to leave this issue to the AGEPoly representation team, which will be better positioned to address it.

Additionally, the assembly discussed the topics to be raised at the semester meeting between the representatives and the EPFL administration. These included the right to demonstrate and the situation in the Middle East, communication with administrative and technical staff, hostile behavior of ETHZ towards students from countries on the blacklist, workspaces, and the working groups of the Mental Health Task Force. The Representation Assembly decided to bring all of these points to the Representation – Administration meeting, as well as the issue of the Bassenges Farm proposed by the administration.
